Welcome to the forums BigSing. BigSing: I have looked at some HTIBs, but I have seen some new reasonably priced receivers from Sony and Onkyo that also offer HDMI video switching. For a lower end system you could go with a HTIB system. I am not a huge fan of these simply because they are often pieces...

That'd be plasma or LCD then. DLP is a projection technology.. And HDTV channels are great! The more the better, just make sure you have the proper cabling to transfer the signal source to fully enjoy the 1080i channels.

You are partially correct. Even other the air broadcasts are compressed. I also know that the compression does not make you lose any quality (otherwise it would not be called HD). It is like using WinZip. It does make the files smaller, but when you unzip (or uncompress) a file, all the information is...

I have had a burning question on my mind all day in regard's to LCD HDTV's? Here is the short version of my point, and that is will somebody please explain the difference between a 1080i TV vrs. a 1080p Tv? I had just purchased a brand new lcd tv but was not told anything about this till i got it home...

All: In the market for a 42" LCD TV, and was wondering if there is an extreme difference between a 720P and a 1080P image. I understand that true HD-DVD is 1080p, but is it worth spending the extra money for a 1080p TV? Shouldn't a HD-DVD image and other HD sources look just as good on a 720P TV? I don...

I wanted to pass along this article which I think does a great job of explaining the differences between 1080i and 1080p. High Definition 1080p TV: Why You Should Be Concerned Let me know what you think, and if this helps clear things up.

a really disturbing fact of the industry is that there are only 2 models of 1080p televisions that actually display 1080p true pixel for pixel, and each one is expensive, first one being the pioneer 50" 1080p and the second one being a Fujitsu 1080p. now i know what you're thinking "hes full of crap...

I don't think you need to worry about whether the 1080p will look worse, but rather if there enough of a difference to justify the price premium. A higher resolution screen should not make the image look poor because of the screen resolution. When folks purchase a 1080p television, however, they typically...

Good question River. If your Sharp Aquos is a true 1080p, it displays all inputs signals at 1080p. Because this is the native resolution of the display, all videos sources are scaled to what the screen can produce. You may have 1080i from your cable box, 480p from your DVD player, and 480i from any other...
