  • JL Audio vs. Alpine

I am looking to put a system in a ful size chevy blazer. I recently posted about sony and kicker but have gotten another job since then and looking at a more high end system now. I am consider getting either: a JLw7 in the wedge box http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136112R7/JL-Audio-HO112R-W7.html?showAll...

I currently have 2 JL 10W6v2 in a custom box pushed by an Alpine PDX 1.1000. Im not rely sure how its possible (since each sub is rated for 600 watts and im only giving them 500 apiece) but im fairly sure i have blown one of my w6's as when its turned up its sounds like hitting two pieces of a 2x4...

  • Subwoofer Grills

So I'm planning on picking up an Alpine Type R 12" sub pretty soon and I was wondering A) is it worth getting a grill if it's going to be in the trunk of my car? and B) is the 12" sub grill available here on Crutchfield compatible with the Alpine Type R? That grill seems to have some...

  • Re: Class in session... Slot Porting 101?

I usually run 4- 10's but recently I've downgraded to 3. I know that the subs are currently presenting a 1.333ohm load to the amp; because of the tremendous power that is driving them I usually keep the gain @ 3/4 but the bass boost very low. My Cd player volume goes up to about 60(ish) but I never turn...

  • Is This a Good Combo

I have 2 Alpine Mrp m-650 amps (2 ohm stable, Mono). Each one going to its own 12" Alpine Type R (4-ohm). My question is is this a good match and what are some tips for reducing rattling and improving sound quality. Also I bridged the power wire instead of using a distributor. Will this be ok until I...

  • What to put in 2007 Honda Accord EX-L w/ Nav

I drive a 2007 Honda Accord EX-L w/ Nav, all stock speakers and head unit. I cannot and won't change my head unit or speakers (I don't need to). All I want to do is add a sub and amp. I have been told that for the genre of music I listen to (metal/rock), I would only need 1 amp and 1 sub (10"). I have...

  • Stereo Help

HELP needed I was wondering if i could fit 4 Alpine SWR-1042D Subs in the trunk of my 2000 Impala Ls and powering those would be a Lanzar MXA282. I was also wondering if this also would be a good setup with 6.5" Lanzar OPT164 powered by a Sound Storm 2F400 and 6X9 Pioneer Premium TS-A943P powered by...

  • Re: Alpine Type R

Welcome to the forums Stevie. Building the box to the specifications that Alpine recommends for their 12" Type R SWR-1222D subwoofer will give better sound. Alpine recommends a 1.7 cubic feet box tuned at 33Hz. Also, adding another subwoofer can give significantly better sound if you also get an amp...
