  • Why does Crutchfield hype LCD's more Than Plasma's?

Not trying to cause a stir i am just curious as to why they seem to list more specs than plasmas. As you can probably tell already i am a plasma guy and as of a year ago thats all i would consider buying. Now in the last year Lcds have impressed me quite a bit with things like 120hz so on and so forth...

  • Re: Some advice on choosing a Flat Screen (LCD, Plasma, Rear Proj.)

Anubis did a pretty good job explaining the benefit to a screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. A LCD TV in not all that un-similar to a LCD computer monitor. So it might help to think of the LCD screens in terms of smaller computer screens [if it will make things easier.] Let's also touch on the word "ghosting...

  • Re: Panasonic 42" Plasma Question

When you are viewing your HD channels, what input are you using? The Co-Ax cable connection usually shrinks the screen entirely down leaving a giant band of black bars all around. The HDMI or Component inputs will give you a full screen image (this is limited to the TV station boradcasting) I suppose...

  • Re: Panasonic vs Pioneer 50"s - thoughts?

No doubt, I agree, it is certainly a matter of opinion. But I just want to let you know Panasonic is releasing a new line of 1080P plasmas. They are so new that I haven't seen them yet but I would imagine they will have made every further improvements. The models include the TH-50PZ80U , TH-50PZ85 ,...

  • pansonic 50s for 2008?

My 27 inch sony just died. I want a 50 inch pany but have not seen the 8 series in person. I have only seen the PZ700 and was impressed. I live in a rural area and it is tough to comparison shop. I like that the 2008s have a pixel-rotation system to avoid burn-in and a new glare or reflection filter...

  • Panasonic vs Pioneer 50"s - thoughts?

I am trying to decide between the Panasonic TH-50PZ750U, the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U and the Pioneer PDP-5010FD. Does anyone have any thoughts on these plasmas, or any experiences with them? I appreciate any thoughts on this matter. I have been doing research on the three, and am stuck.

  • Re: Panasonic Plasma TV's - power supply problem?

I bought a 42" model (th42pz77u) in October. I love the HD picture and most SD looks pretty good. I came home last week and turned it on and nothing but red led flashing 7 times over and over. Panasonic support is hard to contact. ( busy signal or "we are closed, try later.) They use a local company...

  • Panasonic Plasma TV's - power supply problem?

I was just about ready to pull the trigger on purchasing a 58in Panasonic Plasma TV, from Crutchfield of course, when I came across a number of disheartening consumer reviews on a well known consumer electronic website. From the less than stellar reviews on that site, it seems that Panasonic knows that...

  • LCD Contrast ratios

Hi, I've been considering a larger sized LCD TV, 50"+ and have noticed contrast ratios jetting higher and higher all the time, once 1000 : 1 was supposedly impressive, now 10,000 : 1 and 25k : 1 are available. How much can the human eye notice? Does it make that much of a difference? Should it be a deciding...

  • Plasma...a definite no-no in a bright room?

I am planning to buy a new HD TV that is to be used in a room with two windows . The TV will be placed against a solid wall and the wall with the windows is to the right of the wall where the TV is to be located. These windows have aluminum mini-blinds that can be closed during the daytime for viewing...
