  • Re: Polk mounting depth?

Those are some good questions and I'll try to clear them up a little for you. The Polk 651s speakers are considered shallow-mount because of their mounting height measeurements and not the mounting depth. In this case, the 651s speakers only need about half an inch of mounting clearance and the 651 speakers...

  • 98 avalon speaker size troubles

Hi everyone I have a couple of questions: 1. Has anyone replaced a 98 toyota avalon (or first gen avalons 1995-1999) with 5-1/4" inch speakers? 2. Were you able to do it without any modifications? If so what speakers were they? 3. If you did modify it what did you use to make it fit? How can I make my...

  • How to achieve a "Concert Hall" Surround Sound

I have an '08 Toyota Camry which has 4(+2) speakers; 2 fronts + tweeters in the front, and 2 rears in the back. The following site shows a diagram of how they are positioned in a Camry (see the blue box on that page with the icons). I don't have the JBL system but I have the same positioning of speakers...

  • 2 and 4 ohm speakers

I have a 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS and it has the factory JBL sound system. I am wanting to replace the factory door speakers and was told that I needed a 2 ohm speaker instead of a 4 ohm. What is the deal with 2 vs. 4 ohm and what difference will it make if I do replace them with a 4 ohm speaker? I will...

  • JL Stealthbox

I am in the process of installing a new system in my 05 4Runner. I already have a JL 300/4v2 for my mids and highs and plan on purchasing a second JL amp for my sub. I have been looking at the Stealth box but am unsure as to the sound quality and the amount of bass it will produce. In the past I ran...

  • Can I use 2 ohm Kappas up front and 4 ohm Kickers in the rear?

I have a set of Infinity Kappa 62.7i speakers for the front and wanted to run a pair of mid-bass Kicker SSMB6 speakers in the rear openings in my Tacoma. I realized a bit too late that the Kappas were 2 ohm and the Kickers are 4 ohm. I have a Kenwood KDC-591, and plan on running both on the head unit...

  • What size connectors?

My speakers came with these Toyota speaker harness adapters so I could hook them up to the stock speaker connectors in my Toyota: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=103100&i=12071035 However, the speakers I got actually hook up to crossovers and then the crossovers are supposed...

  • basic question

I have a 91 corolla with aftermarket speakers and I was looking to upgrade. My in-dash speakers are fine as of now, but my rear speakers are garbage. I took a look at the set-up and the speakers are 5-inch ultra-slim speakers by Soundtech. My parents got these in 91 or 92 and I can't find any pictures...

  • Infinity Kappa 692.7i Install Question

I recently purchased a pair of Infinity Kappa 692.7i speakers and have a question in regard to the crossovers that come with them. I am not hooking them to a JVC XG700 head unit (20wx4). Are the crossovers still required?? If so, How do I mount them to the door? Automotive tape? Thanks!!!
