need an opinion on what size TV I should get...

I'm redoing my basement and my couch placement is roughly 16-16 1/2 from the wall the TV is going on, will a 55"-65" TV be big enough?  And should I be looking at a rear projection at that size?

Plasma or DLP might be a very good choice in the 60" range.

What kind of budget or plans do you have?  I can try to pick out a couple of sets for you to look into further.

Didn't work out a budget yet, but if I had to guess....anywhere from $1,500-2,000, or cheaper if it exists!

    Thanks-Todd

Have you considered front projection? If you can control the lighting this might be an excellent option. As you are only limited by wall size. Something to consider at least.

    DLP are good as well.

LCD/Plasma are better but cost considerably more for a bit better performance.

What do you think about this set?  I'm hesitant because it seems cheap for a 60" DLP.

I own a DLP from Samsung.

It's really a great picture and the size/cost is very attractive.

DLP does require a cabinet or flat surface to set it on because of the back section for the projector and light engine components.  But if you have the room and don't really need a TV mounted on the wall, DLP is a great choice.

I have a 50in Pioneer Plasma In my basement, and I sit about 15 ft away, I think the pic is great.
