This is my first time posting to this site, so forgive me if I am in the wrong discussion area...
Last week I got my new Denon 2312CI AVR but can't get iTunes on my Mac to "see" it; I have an AppleTV box next to the AVR and that device readily shows up on the Mac.
I have looked on the internet and have seen that Airplay issues like this are not uncommon with the Denon. Any suggestions on how to fix this - beyond turning off and on the router/Mac/AVR?
Thanks
First thing I'd do is make sure that you are running the latest version of the firmware for the Denon.
Next, I'd log onto your router and make sure that the Denon is showing up in the list of connected devices (or ping it). If it isn't there, you have a connectivity issue. It could be a cable problem (check that first) or it could be related to your network settings. If the cable is OK, try setting the IP address manually on the Denon and then assigning that address to the receiver in the router setup.
If you do see the Denon on your network, the issue is with the Apple stuff. I only use Linux so I cant help you there. Maybe someone else on the forum can.
Hi Alex, and thanks for your suggestions. When I did the initial setup routine on the Denon, I believe it did the firmware upgrade. How can I check to see if it is the latest version?
I am a newbie about networking, but I will do my best to follow your advice and check those settings.
An interesting side note: this evening I tried connecting to the Denon via a Vaio laptop in the same room as the AVR. I installed the latest version of iTunes on the laptop, and the Denon showed up as an option under the Airplay list. It worked well for about 2 minutes and then quit. That was about an hour ago and I haven't been able to reconnect since then.
Anyway, thanks again for your suggestions!

You should be able to do the following to check for an update: Press Menu to bring up the GUI. Use the arrow keys to select “System Setup" and press Enter. Select “Option Setup" and press Enter. Next, select “Firmware Update" and press Enter. Finally, select “Check for Update" and press Enter.
Anyone have other suggestions?

That tells us a lot, actually. It means that the IP assignments via DHCP worked, and that connectivity is possible. Try an end-to-end hardwired connection (connect the Denon and the Vaio directly to the switch on your router using known-good cables) and let us know what you get.
