Old Receiver + New HT Speakers = Good Idea ?

  • I have a 1997 Carver HTR- 880 and I am considering using it with some entry - level Polk Audio speakers and PSW- 10 subwoofer.

    Is this a good idea?

I'm basically clueless when it comes to this stuff , so thanks for your patience...

  • The info I found on your amp is as follows:

    DOLBY SURROUND, 80W-L/C/R, 30Wx2-REAR, ~~80

You should be fine connecting the entry level Polks -- assuming their RMS power is at or below that listed above, which I suspect they are.

I suspect Don meant "at or ABOVE that listed above", although SLIGHTLY BELOW amplifier RMS wattage can work well also.

    Hope This Helps!!!
