cutting out

  •  I recently purchased some car audio equipment ( 6x8 speakers and quick connects for installing speakers) and for some reason my stereo is cutting out when the volume gets turned up.  Its almost like it is drawing from the head unit or something.  I used a "speaker to RCA" hook-ups because I have a 1999 Mercury Sable and couldn't use RCA's from the head unit, so I had to use speaker level inputs to RCA's to crossover then to amps... It has the in dash cassette and all the audio controls and heater controls are all in one unit, so I couldn't use an aftermarket receiver which would've been my first choice.  Any thoughts?
  • Often, reducing the gain on the amp will correct this, but ...

If your car has the rotary knobs for the HVAC, you likely can replace the HU - if it has the digital HVAC, you are probably stuck.

    Hope This Helps!!!
