Today's world is a strange one. I would hope that todays youth will be able to discern the difference between enterainment and real world. Another cool game (re-hashed) is Mech Warrior.

Good Morning! Might I ask what computer you are getting (or building)? The reason I ask is there are a few ways you can go about this process. I have 2 laptops. Laptop A - is hooked to my TV via HDMI [the computer has to have an HDMI port] to stream Netflix into the TV. Then the TV sends the audio to the stereo eqipment. [Note my receiver is not HDMI

Repeating - means that your HDMI signal is not touched by the receiver. I also believe that if you have 3 HDMI cables in / the repeating receiver will have 3 HDMI out. One for each channel. Switching - Means that your receiver can process or handle the HDMI signal. Up-conversion as well as 3 in and 1 out. I think all gear sold these days is HDMI 1.3

I'm thinking the same thing J Ro is. You might be better off just buying a whole new HTIB for your mother. There are some really nice kits out there that would cost about the same as buying 5 brand new speakers and a sub. Here's a great example HTIB from Onkyo

An option to ease the reciever purchase: Buy from a company that has a return policy for electronics. That way, you can try out the Pioneer unit and have, at least, one option if the unit is not to your liking. Pioneer is a great company. I have used some of their AV equipment in the past, but not recently.

Sorry for the slow response.. It has been busy on my side of the fence the past 2 days. However....
Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it as I feel a bit like a fish out of water. I haven't picked out any pieces yet (even the tv), and I have another week or so before I need to, so I hope to use this time

I would recommend buying the TSi400's , the TSi CS10 Center , the PSW110 Sub and the Pioneer reciever first. [if it's what your budget allows] By purpose built surrounds, Alex is refering to something similar to these... Polk Audio OWM3 Buy the best front speakers you can afford. Even in college (or not) and on a budget you can get a great package

I searched for a while trying to find a pre-packaged kit to convert wired into wireless and was unsucessful. I thought I saw that JBA had a kit a while ago, but I couldn't find the link after my first hit. My suspicision is that it's more cost effective to by a wireless speaker set for the rears than trying to piece together a conversion kit
Is 7.1 really that much better than 5.1? Where are the other 2 speakers supposed to go? I have been looking at 5.1 receivers and speakers as I didn't think I would really notice the difference between the two.
I don't use a 7.1 setup myself. I think that 5.1 is more than enough for most situations. The

If there's no way to calibrate the controller pad than it's not worth the frustration. Sticking with what you know and feel comfortable with is the best way to rack up a good K/D ratio in games. :) I just wrapped up Dead Space Extraction on the Wii. It was good, but difficult to adjust to (coming from PC to the Wii controller)
