why is it that a store-bought widescreen formatted dvd movie doesnt fill the screen in the 16:9 LCD unit? it has fairly large black bars along the top and bottom, resulting in a loss of about 50% of the total vertical dimension of the screen. Many DVD players have a setting to switch between a 16:9 and 4:3 television output. When you switch this setting

I'm sorry to hear that the cable wasn't the problem. Hopefully LG can get it figured out quickly and inexpensively.

How do you have your system set up? Are you using an external amplifier or just the one in the head unit? Are your speakers factory? Aftermarket? Component or coax? Do you have bass blockers installed? What kind of car? It is possible that somewhere in the system your speakers are already set up with high-pass filters, so you don't notice a change when

I have seen a similar sparkling effect to what you are describing when using low quality HDMI cables to carry a very high resolution image. The cables work just fine at 480i/p, maybe fine at 720i/p, but somewhere betweeen 720i/p and 1080i/p the sparkling starts to appear. What kind of HDMI cable are you using, and do you know if its rated to handle

You may want to go to an auto parts store like Advance Auto Parts or Autozone. They will test your alternator and battery for free and let you know for sure what the problem is. I had a very similar problem last summer, turned out that the battery had an internal short -- the alternator was just fine. Does the charge lamp in the gauge cluster come on

You might want to talk to your cable carrier about the cost of putting a digital box where you are located in the hospital. If I remember correctly this is about $3-5/month in this area with Comcast Cable. A lot of the normal cable boxes have both audio and video outputs, both digital (coax / optical / HDMI) and analog (RCA). If you have a receiver

Silver Storm: If you want louder, new speakers is definately the way to go. But i'm afraid your bass will suffer at least a little while till the new speakers break in and even then, while the bass will likely be clearer, it might not be as loud. Great comments Silver Storm. I was thinking more about the different speakers that I have put into Accords

What I can't tell - with the MP3's that have been run through the Audacity HPF - I can turn the volume up to 29-30 instead of 25-26 before it distorts. That is about loud enough, and it sounds better than not HPF'd, but it doesn't really sound great - it still sounds sortof "compressed" or strained, and muddy, but I don't know if this is b/c the HU

TigerHeli: the stock speakers are rated for 25W (peak or RMS?) Most likely peak. TigerHeli: Budget is as low as possible (preferably under $100-150). This should be workable, possibly not optimal (depends on how much distortion is from the speakers, how much is from the HU). TigerHeli: Add a subwoofer and subwoofer amp, which would let the main speakers
