I'm lookinng at upgrading to the IVA-W505 when it's relesed later this month. I currently have the TUA-T500HD hooked up to an alpine 9885. I know that the TUA-T500HD is discontinued and now there is the TUA-T550HD which adds itunes tagging and dedicated USB input/output for the iPod. Will my TUA-T500HD tuner work with 2008 mdels that have the iTunes

I have a 9885 now, what do you think of the difference in the displays between the 86 and 85? It looks, from the pictures at least, that some screen real estate is taken up by the source icon and not as much text shows on the screen. What has been your experioence? I'm actually really pleased with the sound of the 9885, I have it being driven by a 40W

I would also check out the Alpine CDE-9881 . From Crutchfield's pics, it looks to have a satin trim plate. I own a 9885 and mine is definately darker (black) than this one. Also, the plastic fascia of the deck really seems rather silvery in real life, not the dark black of the photos. good luck.

Nopr, the 9885 does not. It would be nice, but not a dealbreaker for me.

Well, I went ahead and purchased the 9885 and it is installed and humming beautifuly. It's sounds better than I ever could have imagined, at leat as good as my old 9833. The display and ipod control are great, just wish it would go back to the previous spot in your search instead of the begining once you begin playing a track. Small gripes, and I don

Well, it sounds like you're building quite a sytem. I'm looking to build as well, but a bit more slowly than yourself. I did insrtll a 9885 over the weekend and I have to say, it is all it's cracked up to be. You were dead on about the display characterisitics, all business and the legibilty is very high. Your point about Kenwood/Pioneer interfaces

The 9987 is really the only comparabe one in my view, as it has most of the time corection/EQ features of the 9835, but you'll be trading 26w RMS for 18w RMS. You will gain much better ipod control though. I'm going to have a 9885 installed on Friday @ a local shop, as I figured I would try it out and see if I liked the sound. As the 9887 is not yet

Thanks for the advice. I have played with the 9885 and the X001 but the shop didn't have either one hooked up to an ipod. I really liked them both, obviously the X001's screen is a stunner, but the biolite on the 9885/7 is no slouch either - just more traditional. I guess, aside from the sound shaping features that differ between the models, I'm just

Good point. I was thinking (hoping) the X001 would have upgradeable firmaeare that might fix htese issues down the road - even for a fee. If I knew this it would help.
