TigerHeli: Swap it out. The JBL puts out 200W RMS at 4-ohms. It will be giving the sub 66% of rated power, and you will likely be overdriving it, making the amp run hotter. Running a 4-ohm amplifer at 4-ohms is more stable. Running a 2-ohm amp like the JBL at 4-ohms is just making you push the amp harder to get the power for the speaker. The store would

Ugh, now this is giving me doubts about having purchased two pairs of 4-ohm speakers perfectly matched to JBL's CS60.4. Although, If I am understanding you correctly, there should be no problem on the speaker/speaker amp side of things because it is a 4-ohm amp. Right?

If I were to get my hands on the DVC sub, would there be any different way I'd have to wire it up to the amp? Right now I'm just connecting it to the first two pos/neg terminals (there are two pairs) on the amp.. obviously. :p Also, second stupid question of the day, but how do you know that the amp is a 2-ohm amp? The sub is a single voice coil rated at 300 watts RMS at four ohms, and the amplifier is rated at 300 watts RMS at two ohms. Out of curiosity one afternoon I took the sub out of the enclosure and noticed that the installer had chosen the SVC model

I went to another car audio shop today and tested out various head units. I was really impressed by the Alpine 9885. The two line display and non-gimmicky screen were two of my favorite parts about it. The graphical displays in higher end head unit models is a pretty big turn-off to me, but the Alpine pulled it off without cheesing me out. An employee

Hey there, I recently looked into outfitting my car with some aftermarket gear. After about two months of research I've decided that to begin the customization process by buying a new head unit, woofer, and amplifier. I can wait on replacing my 6x9 and 6-1/2" speakers since my 4Runner came with a JBL Synthesis system. I have $550 saved up, and the items
