  • Re: Unwise to drive component speakers with head unit?

Malcolm, I didn't quite understand ... "damage to the speaker due to underpowering them"... I always thought its a myth. Speaker damage can happen only when its mechanical & thermal limits are crossed.. but how underpowering can cause a damage?

  • Re: Help me setup a good car audio system

Hello TigerHeli, Thanks for your time. Before I review those, I want to understand 2 things: 1) Is it okay to power just front speakers and a sub, rather than powering all front+rear+sub with amp(s)? 2) Is it okay, if I don't use amp. to power the components at all and use an amp. to just power the Sub.? (I am not a 'loud' listener; but, at the same

  • Re: Help me setup a good car audio system

Hello TigerHeli, As you recommend, I will go for matched 55W speakers (both front & rear) and a 200W sub. With the above said requirements, would u suggest me a good amp. and good front & rear speakers? I would like to retain same subwoofer, PL2-112. (In line with ur recommendation) My car details: 2007, Hyuindai Accent, Sedan and the HU is

  • Re: Help me setup a good car audio system

Thank you TigerHeli. I expected this nice reply from you. Great analysis, though I am more confused now. How about going for a matched component in the rear tray as well? In that case, I need to buy a 4-ch amp. Right? And, also on the subwoofer part, I am more obsessed with RF, Hence please suggest me a Enclosed Sub. that can be efficiently powered

  • Re: wiring 2 amps to to power 2 speakers?

Yes. Theoretically it is possible. And apart from setting both to same gain, you will have to take care so that offset voltages of each amp. must be same (even in polarity). And at no signal, the offset must be close to zero. Orelse, your car battery will drain away soon. And I think, as each amp. sees half the load when connected in parallel (bridged

  • Re: crossover questions

Yes, the crossover is very much suitable for the subwoofer frequencies. Especially, Mtx Ta 4501 mono is optimized for sub. As your amp ratings optimally match with your american bass 12" sub, you can connect it confidently. You can set the cross over high at 40hz, or whatsoever u like.
