  • Re: HDTV connection

you are fine. im assuming that your dish receiver is connect via fiber optic to the avr. if that is the case you are not losing any sound quality whatsoever. the only thing you are losing is the convience of the hdmi cable being the only cable.

  • Re: Blu-Ray DVDs vs. "Regular" DVDs

well i think that with a 37in lcd bluray loses its affect, i think it would be a slight difference then standard dvds but the size of the tv will play a big part in the PQ. personally i wouldnt go bluray. you have to consider the difference in PQ, is it worth the extra few hundred bucks. For a 50 in tv yes but for a 37in no. however i will say this

  • Re: Between these two ?

I DONT THINK THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TV OR THE TOSHIBA BRAND, ITS WITH THEIR WARRANTY SERVICE. UNFORTUNATELY YOU NEVER HEAR THE GOOD ABOUT ANYTHING ITS ALWAYS THE BAD THAT STICKS WITH YOU. HOWEVER I DO BELIEVE THAT TV MANUFACTURERS DO NEED TO IMPROVE ON THEIR WARRANTY SERVICE. THEY SELL AN EXPENSIVE PRODUCT AND ALL TO MANY TIMES THEY LAG WHEN IT COMES

WELL AGAIN BEAUTY IS ALWAYS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. THE IDEAL PICTURE MODE WOULD BE MOVIE WITH THE COLOR TEMP SET TO WARM 2, BUT AS WE KNOW EACH SET IS DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER SO I WOULD RECOMMEND WWW.TWEAKTV.COM AFTER YOU ENTER YOUR TV MODEL IT WILL GIVE YOU IDEAL SETTINGS FOR YOUR PARTICULAR MODEL, ALTHOUGH I WOULD STILL TWEAK IT A LITTLE MORE

  • Re: Plasma or LCD for me?

I didn't intend for my post to come off as anti-LCD or Plasma-centric YOU DIDNT COME OFF AS AN ANTI-LCD GUY AT ALL, I ACTUALLY AGREE WITH YOUR POINTS, I JUST WANTED TO RE-EMPHASIZE THE EXCELLENT PQ IN BOTH TECHNOLOGIES. ALSO WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT THERE ARE EXCELLENT LCDS AS WELL AS POOR LCDS AND SAME WITH THE PLASMA TECHNOLOGY THERES GREAT PLASMAS

  • Re: Any thoughts on this set up?

WELL YOU CAN ALWAYS PUT THE CENTER IN THE BACK OF THE TV, NOT IDEAL BUT STILL WILL WORK AND SOUND GREAT. AS FAR AS THE HOLES IN THE WALLS, MY REARS ARE ON THE WALLS AND THE HOLE THAT THE WIRE COMES THROUGH IS NOT NOTICABLE AT ALL. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A SLEEK SPEAKER TRY THE MIRAGE NANOS THEY'RE PRETTY SLEEK AND PRODUCE A GREAT SOUND THAT SURROUNDS YOU
