  • Re: Help with different impedences

Fascinating. Maybe now I'll buy that 500 watt at 4 ohm amp from cadence. That should put me right around 200 watts or so at 8 ohms. Or I can buy another 8 ohm sub... I don't really need to spend more money though ahhh. The 10" RF definately has bass. It's just not as much umph as the 12"s. Listening to "Getting Away with Murder" by Papa Roach definately

Understood. Thanks. This is one of those projects I won't really complain about. Find a nice shady park. Do some fiddling. Scare some birds... The Punch actually sounds nice with less than the power one of my 12"s were getting before. I think I've read before that 4 ohm is better than 2 ohm for sound quality. Unless I misread, would it not also follow

Anyway I can tell with an everyday multi-meter? That's about the most sophisticated thing I have for electronics type things.

It does sound pretty nice. I wonder if 125 to the punch is better than 150 to the LA though. Hmmm, experiment project for an upcoming not rainy day. Thanks again!

  • Re: Help with different impedences

Honestly I'd prefer to just use the Punch and my plan was that and the Pioneer until I found it was actually 8 ohm and not the 4 ohm I thought it was. I don't want to starve my new toy. But so it is and so it shall be. Off to the store for some mounting brackets. Thanks for the quick help.

  • Help with different impedences

I want to try out a 10" subwoofer rather than carrying around 2 12"ers with a cubic foot for each. What I have right now. Speakers: Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 2, 8 ohm single voice coil (a few years old) RMS: 200 Watts Lightning Audio 4 ohm RMS: 150 Watts Amplifiers: Pioneer GM 7300M mono amp 360 Watts @ 2 ohms or 250 Watts @ 4 ohms Lightning Audio

  • Re: Marine amplifier in a car?

Thanks for the link lead, more information is always good. Too bad that thread is years old and the link he mentioned no longer has that deal. A 1000 watt 1 ohm amp for that price just seems wrong though. Oh well. I guess they regularly have sales on their website on different products but I might grab the 700 watt one for now since it's even cheaper

Hmmm, it does say rms but you've helped me learn that that doesn't usually mean anything. It's from Cadence Acoustics LTD. This is the rest of the specifications 4 Ohm RMS Power: 1 x 500 Watts @ 13.8 Volts 2 Ohm RMS Power: 1 x 700 Watts @ 13.8 Volts S/N Ratio: >100 db Damping Factor: >200 @ 100Hz Minimum THD: <0.05% I'll definately take a look

Hmmm, ok, thanks for the insight. Worst case scenario is that it wouldn't work in my car. Then I have to buy a boat. :)

  • Marine amplifier in a car?

In my idle searchings of the all mighty internet I ran across an amazing deal for an amplifier that puts out 700 watts at 2ohms. While reading the specifics of it I saw that it is a "marine mono block power amplifier". Is it possible to put this in my car? Do marine amps run at different voltages than car amplifiers, or is it just extra protection from
