it is a phillips 50-inch plasma 50pf7321d/37. the problem lies between my dvd player and the analog stereo i am connecting it to. i know the limitations of the tv. what i want to do is go beyond the limitations of the dvd player and adjust the volume at the dvd player source, something that everyone says is impossible. its 2007, anything is possible

is there really a visual difference in using the new upconvert dvd players using the standard format dvd? is using the s-video output on the dvd player the same as an hdmi upconvert signal?

there are no rca audio outputs on the tv, only digital out to surround.
