I just wanted to post an update. The v1.61 update fixes the same iphone problem on the DDX812. Not surprising because the DNX8120 and DDX 812 are pretty much the same box minus the built in Nav. NAV is an add-on module for DDX812

Thank you soooooooo much for posting this. I was getting pretty tired of people complaining about how I sounded on the handsfree of my DNX8120. The software update install documentation is good. You just unzip the file to the root of your thumbdrive, plug the thumbdrive into your usb cable of the DNX8120 and turn it on. Once it boots up, set to standby

What wires did you tap into to get your camera working. I bought the VTL350 and it has short power and ground wires too. I suppose I need to find a ground and 12v that turns on with the key. I am just not sure which ones I should tap into

Correct, my DNX 8120 had the sticker you speak of and was shipped with a letter from the president of crutchfield, appologizing for the inconvenience. Pretty nice of them. I havent had a chance to install yet, still waiting on some additional parts.

I feel you pain dude. I ordered the 7120, got it a few days ago and sent it back too. I also put myself on the list to exchange my 7120 out for the 8120. I didnt know it existed until someone asked a question about it on the forums. The kenwood usa website doesnt even list that model for some reason, and you cant download any of the manuals for it yet

Being a network admin or computer guy (by trade), I love the idea of the carputer. You are already seeing a trend by some manufactures to integrate PC like features in their models, i.e. Microsoft Sync. When deciding on a platform to run your application (mac vs. pc), you really need to be concerned about layer 1 (thats the physical layer). Enviromentals

3rd Quarter of 2008!!! Yikes! I cant wait that long. That would explain why its not really listed on the kenwood website yet. I thought someone at crutchfield told me that they were sending those units back too because of the same GPS firmware update. This would leave me to believe that the product was released and that they knew what the problem was

Mine will be going in an 2005 F150 FX4. My offroad is only for getting to places I need to get to like snow for snowboarding and desert for dirtbiking and rock climbing. If I was doing a lot of 4x4, I dont think I would take the chance on buying an expensive unit like this. If you are, make sure you buy the extended warranty plan. That should cover

If the 7120 will fit in your car/truck the 8120 will too. The dimentions are pretty much the same. As mentioned, just enter your vehicle through the Crutchfield.com profle wizard "Outfit my car", and it should let you know.

I found out the same thing. The DNX-7120 and DNX-8120 were both recalled by Kenwood due to a problem with the navagation software. Unfortunately for me, my 7120 already shipped. Whats great is that Crutchfield customer service was quick to respond when they learned of the problem. They called me up and informed me of the problem which was very professional
