The fact that you sub is not reproducing the "higher low notes" has little to do with the power output of the amp, but more to do with the size of the box, the amp/HU settings, and the sub itself.

You should be fine then. (Amp specs or at least model numbers will confirm this, but you should be fine.)

Your CVR is rated for 400W RMS, so a 400W RMS amp would be a good match. That said, a 500W RMS amp would give you a bit more output and would work well as long as you adjust the gain accordingly.
