I was looking for good quality HU and speakers that wouldn't break my budget, so here's what I ended up with...

HU-Kenwood KDC-MP208 built-in MOSFET amplifier (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels)

Fronts- Sony GT1625A 6.5" 2-way 2-40 watts RMS (190 watts peak power)

Rears- Sony GT6935A 6"x9" 3-way 2-60 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)

Right now I'm not looking for a sub setup-maybe in the future. With that said, if I want to power this system with an amp as well, what are my best options? Do I power my fronts off of the HU and the backs off of a multi channel that I can later use for a sub? I really don't have much experience when it comes to amps, so any thoughts/recommendations/advice would be really appreciated. Basically I'm looking for a reasonably priced amp (If I even need one right now) that will improve sound quality all around. Will I hear a huge difference running some and/or all my speakers from an amp as opposed to the receiver? Also, I'm just using the factory wiring for all of this-with my new speakers (and possible amp) should I run new wiring?

Thank for in advance for all of your help!

HELP!

I am running two pioneer 12" ts-w306dvc subs in a ported box off a cute little sony xplod amp (xm-sd22x), lol. Now I've grown up and realized this isn't going to cut it. I have everything wired up like the "Two Subwoofers, Mono Amp" diagram here (http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_mono.jpg). Problem is a couple of people said I am holding my subs back from their true potential. Since the subs are 400w RMS a peice and the amp is supposedly pushing 500w RMSx1 @ 4ohms bridged, im short about 300 rms. I may be wrong, plz correct me if I am. Now I'm thinking if i get a 2 channel amp and wire it up like this, "Two Subwoofers, 2-Channel Amp" (http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg), I could get more power out of my subs if i have it running off 2ohms per channel instead of 4 ohms bridged. But of course I'm not sure that's why I came to you guys. So now that I've explained my situation, here are my questions:

1) How should I wire these subs up? (A link to a diagram would be helpful)

2) What kind of amp should I get? Mono or 2 channel?

3) What specific amp would work well with this setup? Preferably under the $250 price range.

Sony xe-700 equalizer/amplifier

Can anyone tell me how to bench test this to see if it will power on? Also, I have lost the wiring diagram and cannot locate one on line. Anyone have a diagram they would like to share.

It has a black wire (ground), yellow wire and blue pre-amp wire and then the usual imputs. Just want to make sure it powers on before I tear out all the stereo to hook it up.

Here's some good ones that we carry....

I like the Kenwood KAC-9103D. It has 900 watts at 2 ohms and is good bang for the buck. If your subs can handle 1000 watts between the two of them, then this should be a decent match.

The Sony XM-D9001GTR has also received good reviews on our website and is pretty affordable.

There are several other amps out there that will do what you want it to do. These are just a couple that we carry.

Anybody have an amp that they are using in a similiar situation that they like/dislike?

After a lot of searching, mostly on Crutchfield, I have decided to go with the Sony CDX-GT610Ui and would also like to add the Sony XM-4S amp. I have Polk db690s in the front and Polk db650s in the back. My question is how does the speaker level input set up work? And how do you get the speaker wire from the speakers to the amp? Does the speaker wire come from the head unit or from the actual speaker? I feel confident that I can do the other wiring involved. I hope. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This box offers two 12" SVC 2 Ohm subwoofers, wired in series to present a 4 Ohm impedance on a single speaker terminal. The 4 Ohm total impedance allows you to bridge a two cannel amplifier to the box.

With the information you provided on the amplifier, it seems you've purchased the XM-2165GTX. When this amplifier is bridged to a 4 Ohm load, it can provide up to 400 watts of RMS power. Because the enclosure is rated for up to 600 watts, the 400 watts provided from the amplifier will be a decent match, but not enough to realize the full potential of the enclosure. We generally recommend powering your subwoofers with at least 70% of their capacity. Your application utilizes around 66% of the enclosure's power capability.

I hope that helps.
