Now I've grown up and realized this isn't going to cut it. I have everything wired up like the "Two Subwoofers, Mono Amp" diagram here (http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_mono.jpg). Problem is a couple of people said I am holding my subs back from their true potential. Since the subs are 400w RMS a peice and the amp is supposedly pushing 500w RMSx1 @ 4ohms bridged, im short about 300 rms. I may be wrong, plz correct me if I am. Now I'm thinking if i get a 2 channel amp and wire it up like this, "Two Subwoofers, 2-Channel Amp" (http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg), I could get more power out of my subs if i have it running off 2ohms per channel instead of 4 ohms bridged. But of course I'm not sure that's why I came to you guys. So now that I've explained my situation, here are my questions:

1) How should I wire these subs up? (A link to a diagram would be helpful)

2) What kind of amp should I get? Mono or 2 channel?

3) What specific amp would work well with this setup? Preferably under the $250 price range.

small budget, small car, small son wants some bass

We just puchases a package amp, sub from "Fusion", we were not impressed, boxed it up and shipped it back. I'm running 2 - 6 1/2 Sony and 2-4X6 Pioneer speakers and at high volume the system seems to cut out, comes back on and then cuts out agian, and so on and so on.

What can cause this? It seemed to work fine day one and two after the install, but then started seeing this problem.
