What Does The Factory GM GMT800 Factory Bose System Have?

Can anyone tell me what exactly is the factory bose system comprised of? I know it has the bose amp, subs, and speakers, but is there anything else? Also, where are the amp and the subs located, and does anyone have any power ratings, etc. on this system?

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I'm not married to the factory HU, although I do like its in-dash CD changer feature. If there is indeed a separate factory amp behind the glove box, one thought I've had is whether I could re-route certain channels (e.g., Low Freq) out of the factory HU to better amps, while leaving other channels connected to the factory amp.

I have a 2003 Tahoe Z71 (bought it new) and I've never really cared for the BOSE system's SQ. It's spec'd as a 9-speaker system, which I believe is 2 front pillar tweeters, 4 door spkrs, 2 rear pillar spkrs, and presumably a sub? After reading some of the other posts, I've gathered that the latter is probably behind the driver's side cargo-area side panel, and that there's an amp/crossover behind the glove box. (Frankly it's hard for me to believe there's a sub and separate amp at all, given the SQ!). I also have the factory HU with 6-disc in-dash changer. So, everything's stock.

Some questions:

My goal is to significantly increase the sound clarity and introduce some nice, ultra-tight base. So at the very least, I'm thinking one or two sealed subs and a really good amp to drive them. Any suggestions / installation considerations?

How much SQ is there to be gained by replacing the 4 BOSE door speakers? Suggestions?

Does the factory "glove box" amp drive all 9 speakers?

Anyone know the specs on the factory rear pillar spkrs, door spearkers, sub, and/or amp?

If you've personally upgraded a Tahoe BOSE system, what components did you swap out, and what is currently driving what?

For #5, how did your upgrades change the sound, and any lessons learned?

03 Tahoe Install

I have an 03 Tahoe with the Bose stereo. I want to put an amp and 2 twelves in the back of my tahoe. I was wondering if someone could tell me the steps I need to take to install these items?

JBL components with Bose factory amp

Does anyone know if a Bose factory amplifier in a 2004 Tahoe can handle a 2-ohm load? The JBL GTO607c components are 2-ohm speakers, and I will be using the Bose amp temporarily to power them. If the amp won't handle it, I will just wait until i finish fiberglassing my amp rack and install my Rockford Fosgate amps. If anyone knows, please advise.

04 Tahoe door speakers

I am trying to decide on what component speakers to use in my Tahoe. I have my eyes on the new Infinity Reference 6 1/2" components. I want to install these in the front and rear doors, and have a Rockford Fosgate 300X 4-channel amp to push them with. My subs are 2 Kicker solo-baric L7 8" in a vented enclosure, powered by a Rockford Fosgate 700S. I want awesome sound quality, with bright, crisp highs, and great mid-bass response. If anyone has any suggestions, I would gladly accept them. The truck currently still has the Bose speakers in it, which do not impress me. (In case you are wondering, I have replaced the factory HU with an Alpine IVA-W200, and integrated the Bose amplifier for now.)
