I have picked out some new speakers to replace the bose speakers and was looking for help on what i should do about an amp.

Can you run the new speakers off the Bose amp? If the best option to just get a new amp for the system, can you please recommend one that will get the job done? If I get a new amp will i need to rewire the whole car to support it or can it use the existing bose wiring?

For the rear deck i was going to go with Infinity Kappa 692.9i and Infinity Kappa 62.9i for the front door.

Please let me know if you need any addtional information to help me!

2002 Audi A6 Quattro Bose amplifier replacement

The Bose sound system has lost sound except for the driver's side. Actually, the rest of the car gets sound except during warm weather, which in South Mississippi means 10 months of mono sound and two months +/- of great sound.

The Audi dealer says the amplifier needs to be replaced ($1,216 for part and labor). Does this sound reasonable (both diagnosis and price)?

It seems to me that it acts like a loose wire or connection.

How hard would it be for me to replace the amplifier myself?

Thanks

Re: Bose System Question?

If the tweeters do have their own amp built onto them, then it would only be possible to replace them if you also installed an aftermarket amp to power them.

Now, not all Bose systems have the amp built onto the speakers. There are some that use a central amp and run wire from it to all the speakers. What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle?

Re: Adding Subs to 97 Jetta GLX Bose system

Hey Max,

You can add an amp to the exisitng speaker setup, but you will not use the PAC OEM-2 to do so. That device is designed to be used if you replace your radio and want to keep using the Bose amps. You can leave the Bose system as is and all you have to do is tap into the speaker wires at the rear deck location and run them to the speaker level inputs on the bass amp. You do have a Bose amplifier below the rear deck and between the speakers, so I would tap into the wire before the amp. That way, you get a full signal to work with for your after-market amplifier.

If you don't want to use the speaker level inputs on your new amp, then you can use a line output converter to tap into the speaker wires. The converter will then give you a set of RCAs to go to your amp.

HTH.

Adding Subs to 97 Jetta GLX Bose system

I have a 97 jetta glx with stock bose stereo system. I am hoping to install separate subwoofers into my car, but keep all other original speakers. Is there any way i can do thi through the existing bose amp? i assume not, and i found the PAC OEM-2 adapter, and i was wondering if i could connect this to my current stereo, get a bass amp for the subs, and keep my existing speaker system. I know nothing about the bose system, so any help or advice would be awesome
Pathfinder Bose Sub and Amp hookup

Hey all,

I have a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with the "premium" bose package, which is in the least to say crap. It misses most of the lower frequencies even at medium volume. I really don't want to rip out everything but i will if i have to. I just want to add an amp with a kicker sub in the back. The only problem is, I have heard that the bose system is not compatible with any new equipment simply because it is running something like 1 ohm throughout the system.ARRG. so any advice would be AWESOME. thanks
