85 corvette bose replacement

Just did the (finally..) replacement of the stock Bose cassette head unit with a DIN mount Sony CD/USB receiver. Well worth it - but a comment about what you get for the installation:

The Scosche OEA-4 amp interface adapter Works fine - once you figure out how to hook it up, something that the instructions don't do much to help with. From what they give you it would seem that all of the connections are made through the group of three plugs on the end of the OEA-4 harness. This is not the case, the power lead Out to the Bose amp relay from the head unit (I replaced the stereo head unit but for now still have the bose speakers/amps in the car - Next up..) is Not in that group of plugs in the car harness, but is a separate single Pink wire. This wire Has to be powered from either the antenna remote out or a Sub remote out (I used the sub on this Sony) for the Bose systems to power up and work.

That's One small item not addressed by the instructions. Another biggie is that the full time +12 volt power coming In to the head unit is also not in that group of three plugs, but is one of two wires in a separate two lead connector in the car harness. There is a mating plug for this connector provided with the OEA-4 but nothing that tells you what to do with it.

At least all of the (eight) Speaker connections are straightforward and the adjustment pots in the OEA-4 work well.

The bottom line is that without the Helms manual (factory service book) and the wiring harness diagrams in it I would have been Really stuck trying to do this install. It Is complete though, and Does actually Work very well. Not Crutchfield's fault that Scosche doesn't include better instructions, I suppose.

I know the speakers are Bose 1 ohm.....will they work ok with an aftermarket HU?

Can I leave the bose amp in after I decide to upgrade the speakers and HU?

Kenwood kdc-x891 on 2003 Mercedes with Bose

I just installed kenwood kdc-x891 on 2003 Mercedes c320 coupe with bose. The HU wont power off when i turn off car engine and pull out car key! Is this suppose to be this way? I have to manually turn off the unit everytime i get off car! The authorized dealer said all mercedes cant turn off aftermarket units, is that true? Or they not qualified to be a Kenwood dealer!?
