  • Tech Terms Demystified: Impedance

Impedance is one of those tech terms whose meaning is just close enough to its general definition to cause some confusion. In everyday language, an impedance is a hindrance — an obstacle to be overcome. Electrically, impedance is a neutral term — part of the physical properties of electrical...

  • Sub wiring question?

Sub wiring question? I have 2 (4) ohm DVC speakers, I have a 1000 watt bridgeable 2 ch 2 ohm stable amp I have each speaker wired in parallel, wired to each channel on amp. Am I able to bridge the speakers at the amp and if so what impedance would that be

  • How to power a single 12 ohm subwoofer?

I have an old JL Audio 12 ohm subwoofer sitting around and I want to install it in my truck. I have a few amps but I'm not sure how to power a 12 ohm woofer. The one amp that I'm thinking of using puts out a mono 4 ohm load. Can I use this to power the 12 ohm sub? If not, what's the best way of powering...

  • How Do I Fix This??

I recently purchased 2 12" DVC 4 ohm Kicker CVRs and an Alpine MRP M850. Due to my lack of understanding about Dual Voice Coils/how wiring affects impedance, I did not realize that a subwoofer that was described as 4 ohm DVC would actually end up being 2 or 8 ohms depending on the wiring of the coils...

  • DVC vs. SVC worth the upgrade?

Currently my setup is two ten inch subs (2-ohm) being pushed by a two channel amp. The amp is running 450 watts per channel at 2-ohms. My question is, would i see any performance gain out of getting two DVC's and wiring them accordingly depending on their impedance? My amp can run 450 watts per channel...

  • Would you run this Amp/Sub Combo? If so, how?

The amp I recently got for free from my neighbor... The Sub I bought a year ago and has never been used (bought a new truck). It's not an exact match as far as specifications go, but my preference is to use this amp no matter what. Preferrably with this combo (lowest cost option for me) and wire it so...

  • Ohm, and wiring configuration for an Rockford sub and amp

I'm considering getting a Rockford Fosgate P3SD210 which is a 2 ohm DVC subwoofer with an RMS rated at 300, and a peak at 600. I would like to find a way to wire it to the Rockford Fosgate T500-1bd which is 1 ohm stable with a wattage rating at 500 watts. I know that with dual voice coils, the input...

  • What amp for my woofer?

I am new to the speaker business but I felt it was time to actually hear my music. I bought two 10 inch kicker subs and I am looking for an amp but I am not sure what exactly what I should be looking for. The subs I bought are the 2007 Kicker Models (not the CVR model, but these: <Mod Edit: Redirected...
