How can I ''plug'' my PC network into a receiver (Onkyo TX-SR605) so I can play music on my PC through the speakers that are wired to the receiver? I have a Cat5 network outlet next to the receiver so I'd like to use hard wire connection rather than wireless.
Is there an ''adapter'' I can ust to join a cat5 cable from the network outlet ...

I just flashed back to my
first record player. It played 45s, and when it skipped, I put a penny on the
arm. Remember doing that? A handle on the side let me carry it around the house
to play songs for my brothers — moving music the old-fashioned way.
These days, I have a lot of MP3 songs stored on my computer. The Internet also holds a ...

hello,
I am trying to determine whether this reciever will return to the middle of an Mp3 track after I shut the car off/ shut the unit off. I listen to audio books a lot and some of them have really long tracks. If the reciever cannot do this, then no go. I have heard that there is no Fast-forward or rewind so I do not ...

I have a 2001 Honda Accord EX Coupe and would like to play MP3 files. The factory radio includes the 6-disc changer and has steering wheel controls. In my previous car, I had replaced the factory radio with a Kenwood KDC-MP8017 (2001) MP3 CD player. The Kenwood worked good, but now I am looking for larger capacity than a single 700MB CD-R ...

Hi, my name is Robert, and I just joined to find out all I can about the newest Digital Media Receivers coming down the line.
I have an old first generation Sony CD MP3 that I bought here about 8 years ago or so, which still works good, but was never too good with skipping. It had some kind of 3 second anti skip memory, but never worked ...

This is an excellent article in plain English about the current state of recorded sound quality. It gets into the mastering “volume wars,” the drive for processed perfection, and their consequent effect on recorded music’s emotional impact. I think it’s an important issue.
(Don’t be fooled by RS’s annoying proclivity for inserting ...

I recently had an opportunity to do some side-by-side comparisons of Shure's line of in-ear earbud headphones. But this post isn't about the headphones -- it's about the importance of sound file quality.
We were doing the tests with an MP3 player, and listening to different kinds of music recorded at the standard 128Kbps.
The Shure SE110s are ...

We recently bought an aftermarket hu for my wife's new car (the previous owner's 3yo had put coins in the CD slot of the stock system). We ended up getting a Kenwood KDC-MP435U. One of the big selling features for me was the USB port on the front for stick drives. I like it enough that I'm now shopping around for an aftermarket ...

I picked up a Duel xhd6426 car receiver. The idea of using a USB flash drive is great but I would like to take it a bit further.
I have external USB harddrives. Can I use them? I tried a USB 2.5'' drive but I think the USB port in the receiver does not have
enough power to support the current requirements. Since my car has a built in 120V socket ...

I recently moved my iTunes library to an external hard drive. While it meant I could greatly expand the number of songs I could have in my library, the primary reason for the move was so I could upgrade the sound quality of the music I stored.
iTunes automatically compresses songs as they're imported. Compression helps fit more songs into the ...

I have spoken with our technical department and they say that it is not capable of doing a random play for an entire MP3 disc with folders. It can do a random play on one folder, but not the whole disc. HTH!

There should be no difference in sound quality from playing MP3 files through a USB input versus an MP3 CD. Both will get the audio into the receiver digitally and the receiver's converter will do the rest.
As for the reliability of the lens, I do not have any information on life expectancy. I know that we carry both brands and I do get (if my ...

I am trying to hook-up my mp3 player to my existing CD head unit/receiver. The mp3 player has a 1/8 inch headphone output which I am planning to use with an RCA plug/adapter (left/right audio male plugs) to 1/8 inch (male) stereo plug. My DEH-P940 (Pioneer) CD head unit/receiver has an AUX (auxilary) input which can be controlled ...

There's a growing concern about unauthorized music downloading, and the legal consequences it can bring. What's not talked about are the thousands of free, legal downloadable songs available on the Internet. Many artists offer free tunes from their catalog as a way to build an audience. If you're willing to venture beyond the Top 40, there's a ...

On my 2000 Mustang Convertible w/ Mach 460, the CD player has stopped loading and ejecting disks. So, I'm looking for a reaonably-priced new HU with MP3/WMA, maybe aux input, maybe the ability to play a DVD with MP3s on it, maybe a built-in HD or USB support, maybe BlueTooth, but no desire for any pay services like satellite. I ...

I have not personally used this unit, nor does it appear that we have gotten any online feedback regarding the MP3 playback on the Blaupunkt Kingston MP47. So, I cannot say for sure if it will. However, the manual reads ''You can name each directory using a PC. The device is capable of displaying the directory name. Name the directories and ...
