  • 2 or 4 channel amp to power HCCA 10d dual 2-ohm voice coil sub?

Let me start by saying I am a total idiot when it comes to car audio....I need all the experts here to point me in the right direction and answer a couple of questions. I am installing a system in my boat. I am using an Orion HCCA 10d sub in a 1.5 cu. foot ported box. I have a Marine grade MBQuart 2...

  • high range amps?

Is there a high powered amp that can power a nice component system? All I really see to meet such demand is Pioneer's PRS-DD2200T and most other amps are under powered (and ineffiecent). Also most higher powered amps are made for Subwoofers.

Hello, I'm thinking of getting the KTX-H100 to imprint my system. I have a laptop that has Windows Vista Home Premium installed. So I'm wondering if anyone has tried the software on Windows Vista or if they would know if it will work in Vista? I'm also thinking of getting the alpine KTP-445 to up my...

  • Re: Help choosing 2 AMPS

Use a 4 channel amp such as the small Alpine V-Power amp for the 4 Pioneers. It puts out 50 watts RMS to each speaker. It has pre-outs for hooking a sub amp to. It also has a nice freq filter/crossover system to keep your full range speakers from getting the low bass. You need a mono sub amp to run the...

  • Top Down Sound, Part 4: Equalizing the audio system in a convertible

Jeff and I meet at the Crutchfield Research Bay for the final system tuneup. In the last installment , we set the crossover points and adjusted the gain structure in the Sebring's system. Now, we've borrowed an AudioControl Real Time Analyzer (RTA), a complex little box that's used to measure...

  • Top Down Sound, Part 3: Tuning up the audio system in a convertible

In Part 2 , we ripped my Sebring apart to install a high-performance audio system. Since then, I've been playing lots of music over my system in the last two weeks, and I spend a little time in my garage every night making adjustments. I've got the crossover points and gain controls set so that...

  • Can you hear the differences between car amplifiers?

Amplifiers all sound alike, right? No they don't. Many amps just make your music loud enough to overcome road noise. Other amplifiers handle music more carefully to promote higher fidelity. Small technological differences between brands often make for large differences in sound. A recent test in our...
