  • Rear speakers, amplifier, and subwoofer

Now that the front door speakers were in -- and we could ably demonstrate the difference between the front aftermarket and rear factory speakers -- it was time to install the new rear speakers. Matt and I decided that this next phase would be big; not only would we be mounting JL Audio C2-650X full-range...

  • Re: Lights Dimming!!!! Need More Power??????

You need to do what is known as the Big 3 Upgrade. Larger than stock high quality copper wiring, at least 4 gauge, from battery negative to chassis ground, from engine ground to chassis ground, and from battery positive to alternator positive. Clean any dirt, grease, oil, paint, etc. from grounding points...

  • Re: JL Audio G4500

I hear you and do not want to go back into a capacitor pros and cons argument or anything like that. I respect your car audio knowledge base. Just wanted to quote this, straight from Crutchfield : The overall response of your audio system will be enhanced with the use of capacitors due to their ability...

  • Re: Alpine SWR-1542D 15" 2000W Dual 4-Ohm Subwoofer (2) What Apline amp would power these subs to peak power?

Looks like you need a 1 ohm stable mono amp. Each woofer will handle 750 watts RMS, so 1500 watts RMS when the 2 woofers are wired together as 1 ohm. J Ro or one of the other pros will correct me if i am wrong. You need a 3 or 4 farad capacitor and upgraded battery/alternator/ground wiring. (if it hasn't...

  • Re: Best Amp for two 12" MTX Thunder 5500 subs

A 2 farad cap will work nicely. Use at least 4 gauge wire from battery to cap to amp and also ground. Use an 80 to 100 amp inline fuse as close to the battery as possible. Rock on !

  • Better car audio, Tip #10: Use a capacitor if you're going to push your subs hard

They didn't have subwoofers in mind when they built your vehicle. Big bass sucks up a lot of power, and most car electrical systems aren't equipped to deal with it. A capacitor acts as a buffer between your amps and your car's battery. You connect the cap inline on the power cable from your battery,...
