  • Re: Which reciever is good for me (newbie here)

Sorry for the slow response.. It has been busy on my side of the fence the past 2 days. However.... [quote user="gmoniey"]Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it as I feel a bit like a fish out of water. I haven't picked out any pieces yet (even the tv), and I have another week or...

Welcome to the site gmoiey. If you are starting from scratch, you can always to the HTIB route. It'll give you all the bits you need, and if you buy the right ones they are upgradeable for later down the road so you don't have to replace everything in your setup when you decide you want better...

  • Re: HTIB in Pre-wired house?

Hello Houston. Which HTIB were you considering for this effort? The person you spoke with was correct, but didn't give you a reason. The reason that some HTIB systems won't work is due to proprietary or "unique" speaker connections. Those unique terminals make those speakers only work...

  • Re: Receiver Help_ what is a good pic??

Hello Clax. I have a couple of recommendations for you: If you need just a reciever [i.e. you already have speakers and subwoofer] than you can look at the Onkyo line of AVR's. Both the Onkyo TX-SR507 and the Onkyo TX-SR607 fall under your budget number and provide great performance. If you need...

  • Re: ONKYO HT-S7200

At this time, we do not have that product in our systems at all. It appears that we will not be carrying it as the system is on the market, but not in our systems.

  • Re: Onkyo TX-SR606 and Wii - Keep loosing picture.

I have an similar problem with my TX-SR606. Did you manage to get it resolved or did you have to send it away for repair? HDMI Sources such as Sky+ HD and PS3 all work fine. Xbox 360 and Wii produce sound but no picture, the only way to get a picture is to repeatedly turn the reciever on and off (10...

  • Father's Day Gift Ideas-- Part 2: Home entertainment

In part 1 , I offered some gift suggestions for the dad who's into (or would like to be into) the iPod. So what to get the dad who's into movies and video? As a Crutchfield advisor, I'm asked that question a lot. Here are some of my favorites. Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray player $249.99 Does your dad have...

  • My wish list -- the Onkyo TX-SR606 home theater receiver

Sometimes it's the simple things that make you decide you've got to have a new piece of gear. In my case, there were four things to consider: H, D, M, and I. I've already got a pretty good home theater receiver, but it's getting a little old. Exactly how old was brought home to me when...

  • Still a "go" with stereo -- the Onkyo TX-8222 stereo receiver

When my old stereo receiver finally gave up the ghost (after 20 years of distinguished service) it was time to hit the store and get another. The home stereo landscape has changed quite a bit since I bought my old Sony. Back then, you bought a stereo receiver for your home system — period. Now a quick...
