  • need a bass specific 6x8

I recently purchased an Alpine IDA x200 from Crutchfield... I want to change my factory 6x8 speakers. I cannot afford a sub at this time, but can somebody recommend a speaker that does some justice to bass?? I was thinking of the Infinity Kappa, but recently found from a review that it doesn't have...

  • Re: Sub Selection

This is an awesome deal on an awesome amp, and should power the 4 Polks well. It has really nice HPF options also. I wouldn't hesitate. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_115CS604/JBL-CS60-4-Z.html?tp=115 I would also get some 6.5" foam baffles behind those speakers. I was skeptical about the baffles...

  • Better home audio, Tip #15: Upgrade to high-performance speakers

The last tip in our series seems intuitive: to improve the sound of your system, improve the part that actually makes the sound. That is, the speakers. But keep in mind that the speakers are just a part of your audio/video system -- a link in the chain running from the audio source to the sound that...

  • Subwoofer stopped working...

Gear: I have two Polk/MOMO 2104 10" subs in home built sealed boxes. They are wired with 12gauge wire to a Alpine MRP-M500 in parallel. The amp is powered through a distribution block to a 2 farad capacitor then a fuse to the battery. Problem: After I finished building the boxes and installing and wiring...

  • Re: New Polk MM6501 and Q-Forms Kick Panels

I have looked into the differences between the MM6501 and the db6501 speakers. The frame diameter on the MM6501 speakers is 6.5" which is the frame diameter of 6-3/4" speakers from other manufacturers. The frame diameter of the db6501 speakers is closer to 6.3". This means that the MM6501 will fit 6...

  • Profile Amps, Good or Garbage?

I am looking for an amp to power my 6.5" momo components. They are rated to handle 125 watts rms. Would the Profile HA1000 or AP1000 be a good amp for this application? Both are 2 Ch's rated at 160 watts rms @ 4 ohms; the momo's are 4 ohms's as well. I could just turn the amp down a bit to compensate...

  • Re: Polk mounting depth?

Those are some good questions and I'll try to clear them up a little for you. The Polk 651s speakers are considered shallow-mount because of their mounting height measeurements and not the mounting depth. In this case, the 651s speakers only need about half an inch of mounting clearance and the 651 speakers...

  • Need help with configuring a better sound system for my truck

The speakers on my factory installed truck stereo were blown, so I recently replaced them with front and rear Polk speakers, and a JVC HD Radio/CD, Bluetooth and IPod ready system. The problem is my music is a little flat, and I am not sure if just a subwoofer will enhance my music experience (I play...
