I am halfway home. Can someone pls help me. I have the HDMI cable in the wall, coming out above the fireplace and the other end is near the floor where the cable box will be. Cable guy coming tomorrow. I have cable outlets in main room and 3 other rooms, but HD only in main room. What do i need from cable guy? Do i need a short line to connect the receiver to the cable jack in the wall, and then the HDMI line goes into the receiver?
and do i get one cable line into the whole house? from a main line into the basement?

Yes, 1 cable that comes into the house, then typically split at some sort of junction box to distribute to all 4 rooms. Doesn't matter if it's HD or regular it all travels down the same cable. The difference being is the cable tv decoder box that allows you to see HD or non-HD.
All you need is a coax cable from the outlet to the cablebox. The cablebox may or may not have an HDMI connector as some have DVI still. There are adaptors from DVI to HDMI.
But, you can either go from the cable box to the reciever or directly to your TV, depending if your reciever is DVi/HDMI compatible and if you have other devices, i.e. DVD player to connect. Most TV's have 2 HDMI inputs, so you could use one for DVD and the other for Cable. If you have more sources....then a A/V reciever with HDMI switching is your best bet.
